Showsheen brand is one of those brands that you see everywhere and in every facet of the equestrian community, from dressage show barn to kids western riding camps. We have reviewed several Showsheen products before (Showsheen Original Hair Polish and Detangler and the Showsheen Shampoo), but had not gotten around to using the Showsheen Detangler Gel until recently.
First note, this stuff smells great! The bottle and applicator tip are great quality and easy to use. It comes in a small 4 oz. bottle, so there’s never any problem fitting it in my grooming box. It’s easy to apply to the tail and has very good detangling and hair softening results (thanks to the Argan oil). It adds great shine, makes it easy to brush through, and the results last several days. It also does not attract dirt to the tail, so it stays cleaner. Performance-wise, this stuff does exactly what it says it will do.
There is one major spot where the Showsheen Detangler Gel lacks a bit over some other brands, and that’s price per oz. It’s more expensive than some other brands of similar (or better) quality, so it comes down to personal preference on hand feel, scent and results. I like Showsheen Detangler Gel, however it will not be replacing my favorites (Knotty Horse and EquiFuse).
