I bought the Horseware Rambo Dry Rug out of desperation last winter.  Show season wraps up in November…and starts in January here so I often find myself needing to give a bath in colder temps, on cloudy days, on humid days and sometimes on rainy days in the winter.  After one particular HORRIBLE bath day before a show when it took Spice 4 hours to dry to a reasonable amount (and going through a number of coolers) I did some research and came across the Horseware Rambo Dry Rug and decided to give it a try.

It was a bit pricey, but I figured if it really dried Spice in “record time” it was worth it.  So…did it work?  Pretty much yes!  On an equally humid and cloudy day as the 4 hour dry time day…Spice was reasonable enough to blanket and braid after about an hour an a half in the Dry Rug.  Better than 4 hours…yes.  A miracle…not quite.  HOWEVER when using this rug on a day with a little sun, the dry time is extremely fast…as fast as a half an hour (no matter the temp).   It works fantastic on a short summer coat, a clipped coat, and even a shaggy coat (though obviously will take longer on the shaggier bits).

It has a full neck (that can be rolled up if you don’t want to use that part) and fits very snugly against the body to really help wick the water away.  The belly straps are elastic, so you can keep them nice and snug to make sure the bottom of the blanket wraps around as much of the belly as possible.   It is very lightweight and packs away easily.

You CANNOT turn your horse loose with this blanket and do not drop it as once shaving stick to it…they’re stuck forever.  Otherwise it’s easy-care and you can toss it in the washer (and I’ve also dried it in the dryer) with no ill effects.  Make sure however that you secure the velcro bits to themselves before washing because they do stick pretty significantly to the cooler’s fabric and will cause bunching.

I have found this product pretty indispensable on bath days and I’m really glad I purchased it.  If you’re looking to speed up your horse’s dry time, you can’t go wrong with the Horseware Rambo Dry Rug .
