So I purchased the Brush Blaster from Virtue Soap Company on a whim after seeing them on Instagram.  Specifically I actually saw the soap (for humans)…and decided I needed to buy some (because I love fancy soap)…and then saw these brush cleaners and had to try them.

They’re basically a little bath bomb to clean your brushes.  I’d initially thought I’d clean a fly mask in this bunch too…but the bucket was already feeling a little full, so I thought…next time I use one (I have another Brush Blaster waiting at hand).

Upon first purchase, I thought these were maybe a bit expensive.  It’s a nice chunk of cash for a one time use item, however I was impressed with how well it worked.  It was especially handy on a freezing cold winter day when I REALLY needed to clean my brushes after a couple of months of neglect…but I really didn’t want to get wet.

Easiest instructions ever?

Threw all the brushes in a large bucket, filled it with water and tossed in the Brush Blaster.  Came back about 20 minutes later and dumped the bucket.  The brushes looked a little dirty in the nasty water, but laid out I sprayed them down for a few seconds each brush and the brushes were SUPER clean afterwards.  It doesn’t of course get the hair the of the brush, but after letting them dry a bit I used my tail brush to pull the hair out of the brushes as I usually do.

Nice and Clean!

All in all it was an easy and painless brush cleaning experience.  It took less active time for me AND it kept me from getting super wet or prolonged exposure of my hands to water.  The disgusting brushes came out super clean (including the curry glove which had significant caked on hair/skincell/oil goo).   I think for cold weather these are a blessing and I won’t hesitate to use them.  In the warmer months I may choose to wash my old way simply to save a few bucks.  I do think they are maybe a hair more expensive than I’d prefer (they’d be more palatable at $5 a bomb) but I also understand companies need to make a profit and the ingredients for these types of things only keep going up.  The 6 pack does save you a little bit, but not a ton.   I would certainly consider buying them again (and other products from the brand).  I am thinking of trying the horse soap next!

Here’s the video of the process!
