This review has been on my list of potential reviews for years.  Years!  Why haven’t I ever done it?  Who knows.  Very strange since I use these literally every time I go to the barn.  I do hope you will forgive me for how dirty these are.  I did not clean them before taking photos!  Ha!  Good reminder it’s time for a deep cleaning on my grooming box.

I bought my first Haas brush in 2017 for Spice to upgrade from my cheaper brushes I had collected from discount sites that weren’t great…and were really made for children (he was more sensitive with brushing, certainly as well and required a certain touch).  My first purchase included two brushes, the Parcour and the Diva.  I’m going to break down below each brush, how I’ve used it, how long I’ve used it, etc. for your information.

Parcour current conditon

Parcour – I bought this brush in 2017 as mentioned above (yeah…so it’s 5 years old now).  I used this one on Spice because it has softer bristles on the inside and the outside ones are a bit stiffer but there’s not many of them…so it was good at brushing the dust off of him and not irritating his sensitive TB skin.  I still have it.  I still use it occasionally on Jax.  The outer stiff bristles have seen better days, but the dense soft bristles in the middle are in excellent shape.  This brush was my favorite brush for years and years. It’s still an excellent one.

Diva on left, Parcour on Right

Diva – I bought this one as a show brush.  It lives in my show kit and only gets brought out then.  Too much a pain to care for the sheepskin center to use it regularly.  It’s still in great shape even 5 years later because it is very lightly used.  Not many everyday reasons for a show polish shine, so I don’t bother.  Nice bruch and I don’t regret my purchase.

The Schimmel. great for getting off crusted poo and other gross things.

Schimmel – I bought this brush for a gray horse I had started to ride after Spice died (because the stiff bristles are supposed to be good for gray horses)…but have used it exclusively on Jax (by the time it came in the mail, I’d already moved to Jax).  For a chestnut that occasionally despises grooming, most days he likes a really scratchy brush and even wants me to use this one on his face.  Goofy horse.  The bristles are less dense than on the other brushes I have from Haas, but really stiff and good for getting up dirt and mud.   Anyways…I bought it about 3 years ago now and it’s still going strong.  This is my #1 brush to use on Jax if he’s got a little dirt in his coat and he’s being bitchy about currying for the day.

From left to right – Parcour, Schimmel, Cavaliere and finally the Fellglanz. They’ve been used most to least in that order as well.

Cavaliere – I bought this one as a little bit of a replacement for the Parcour (since the outer bristles have lost their umph).  This one has a raised outer edge which helps get more dirt off the coat.  Jax seems to like it fine and on days Jax allows currying, this is my go too to knock the dust off the coat.  I think this one is my new favorite!

Fellglanz – I just recently brought this one (a few months ago) just to add another soft bristle brush for days I want him to shine (like clinic days).  It’s been used a few times, but it’s certainly not become an everyday brush for me as it’s just not as much of a workhorse as some of the others.

I love my Haas brushes and honestly, I don’t even bother trying any others now.  They hold up really well.  I love the leather handles and the solid brush body.  I love that the brush body isn’t wood, so it makes for easier drying and longer lasting brush.  They have held up extremely well, do a great job for their indented uses, and are easy to clean and use.  I also appreciate they are all the same size and shape (at least this bunch) so they fit tidy in my grooming tote snuggled up together.  The price can be a little higher than other brushes of course, but I think they’re worth the price for the quality.  I’ve never once lost bristles.  The straps are strong.  No complaints on quality.  if you want them a little cheaper, ordering them from Europe is better if you’re ordering several things (especially right now with the exchange rate) because they’re always cheaper once VAT is taken off.  I love my Haas brushes and will keep using them and buying them in the future!
