Le Mieux pads have been a part of my regular rotation for several years now.  I initially found the brand when looking for a cheaper alternative to Mattes for a white sheepskin pad for showing and ended up with schooling pads and a white pad for showing as well.

The half pad is gorgeous and was an incredible value for the quality.  I’ve never had any issues with it shedding, losing loft or staining.  It looks almost as good now as it did the day I bought it.

The cotton square pad I use for showing is excellent.  Sturdy quality and has been fairly easy to keep white for 3 years of showing.   It does have some staining from the leather dye…but all organic stains have come out (dirt, sweat, etc) easily.   It’s cotton, and while sturdy…not so thick that Spice would overheat in it.  It’s cut really well and gives nice wither clearance on most horses.  It also isn’t super small like so many pads I’ve tried are.  It actually fits my larger dressage saddle and longer backed dressage horses (which are pretty common these days).

The fancy suede style which has a “velvet” like look I have in grey.  This one is also no worse for wear than when I bought it and is in incredible condition for three years of riding…however…it is HOT.  I have found that for whatever reason horses sweat way more with this pad than they do the regular cotton ones from Le Mieux.   It tends to be a “winter only” pad for that reason.

My favorite part of these pads…other than the value/durability over time is the attachment mechanism.  I LOVE the little velcro attachments that attach the half pad to the square pads.  It’s just a neat way to keep them lined up perfectly but not add any bulk to the situation.  Excellent design.

My only issue with the pads I have from this brand are the weight of them.  While they’re very durable…they do tend to make horses extra sweaty and the lining on the suede one is quite hot too.  They may have updated the lining since I bought mine a few years ago, but that’s my only complaint!  I’ve not tried the new shiny fabric ones.

I would recommend the pads from Le Mieux if you are looking for something sturdy and long lasting (and good looking) for a good price.  They are well worth their cost, unlike many other trendy brands.
