I cannot tell you how many times I have fought with the ever so basic requirement for canine ownership.. the leash. Unloading equipment from the truck or horse trailer, while juggling a leash wrapped around your elbow, wrist, and/or ankle. (Yes, I have resorted to the ankle hold on a dog leash more than once.) It can be used as a hand held leash or extended out to be used as a hands free waist tether leash. I was skeptical using it as a hands free leash at first, but it was not only REALLY adjustable for any size, but very comfortable when in use. You can give more or less “slack” once it is adjusted around the waist, I made the leash as short as possible and it was the perfect length. (Our dogs are trained to the heel command, and are taught to stay at the hip, but some owners prefer leaving length.) I was able to hike, run, and use this leash to hold the attention of our youngest working dog, Holley, while in training.
The hardware and durability of this leash was very impressive. The unique “Talon Clip” used by Ruffwear is a one handed, easy attach clip that makes handling multiple dogs so convenient and quick. The leash is thick, the aluminum hardware is light, and after multiple trips through the woods, water, and mud it still looks new. We had a grey in color leash, but the choice of colors is extensive and vibrant.
