Cowboy Magic Detangler and Shine is a product was recommended to by a friend several years ago and now I am really excited to review! I’d never considered Cowboy Magic products previous to this because I always thought they looked cheap. Something about the packaging.
My impressions on the quality of this product completely changed once I actually used it.
It comes in several sizes and I tried it first in the flip top squeeze bottle. The packaging was great, sturdy and was perfect at dispensing just the right amount of product. This stuff also smells great.
A little goes a long way. You have to really make sure that you rub it and smear it out on your hands before application because it will glob on a tiny section of hair if you apply it that way and you will need more product to get the job done. This stuff really does the trick on long, tangled and dirty manes and tails. It immediately helps to release tangles and shortens grooming time and helps prevent damage to the tail.
It has worked great on every horse I have tried it on, even sensitive Champ (product left him often makes him itchy).
It improves the feel and shine of tails for days after application as well. It also repels dust and dirt. Though it is suggested on the website that it will not dry out hair, I always apply a layer of leave on conditioner before I use this because I like to ensure that the tails are healthy.
The cons are the larger bottle packaging (it is REALLY easy to pour out too much) and the fact that it’s pretty hard to wash off your hands (it makes them slick for quite some time afterwards). Other than that, I don’t have much to complain about.
