I’ve been a huge Kastel Denmark fan for YEARS.  As mentioned in my last review, I’ve got…dozens of their shirts (I’m not counting…it is embarrassing).  I’ve got a vest, a jacket, riding tights…and I have another jacket, several shirts and sweater on the way right now.  I’m a proud ambassador of this brand the last couple of years and was a proud customer for many years before that.  I think their sun shirts (especially the print ones – as I love the material) are as good or better than anything else on the market…and their prints are getting prettier by the season.  Even in the winter when it is cold, I find myself reaching for their shirts because they’re just so pretty.  Recently their outerwear came into my life and I have found that I am reaching for both the vest I have and the new Full Zip Track Jacket on a regular basis.

When Kastel initially said they were going to send this jacket to me…I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it if I’m being honest.  The color isn’t really my favorite (this kind of warm sandy color isn’t usually the most flattering for my skin tone) and the color looked absolutely horrifying to bring to the barn.  The moment I tried the jacket on…it went from a…”I probably won’t use this much” to a “OMG I love this jacket” immediately.  In fact…I liked it so much…I have a second one in a new print release on the way and I’m super excited.

It is beautiful.  The cut/design with the sporty striping is extremely flattering. I did wear it to the barn one time…just to test it…but it has become more of a “run around and do errands” jacket or “go to the gym” or “walk to the park” or “sit at my desk and work” jacket.  It’s just super cute with a pair of jeans or work out tights…and is super comfortable.  I can’t help it.  It’s just a nice jacket.  It has no obvious branding or anything making it “horsey” so it’s easy to incorporate into my regular clothes.  It’s a great stable to street style.  For me once something becomes a “regular clothes” item…it tends to never go back to the barn because I’m allergic to horses/hay/shavings/etc…so I tend to keep those things separate for my health.  This may or may not make it back to the barn again.  We shall see!

Lets talk comfort for a minute.  The material is quite nice.  It’s light weight, but also substantial enough to cut the chill.  The cut is comfortable with no tightness or feeling bound up in the shoulders or chest or too tight in the neck when zipped up.  At the same time it isn’t baggy or unflattering.  It’s just a nice tailored fit.  Is it going to keep you warm in 30 degrees?  No.  But it’s perfect for 50 degree California winters and I’ve worn it around easily without getting over heated up to 75 degrees this winter.  When I wore it to the barn, I didn’t overheat when I rode and was able to wear it the entire ride.

Practicality wise, I appreciate the double zipper for riding and the nice sized pockets.  I do wish the pockets had a zipper for security as a riding jacket…but it’s not a deal breaker.  The material (even shockingly in this color) doesn’t stain easily and washed well.  I mean…I didn’t spill thrush medication on it or anything…but it didn’t attract dirt stains from just normal wear at the barn (at least not with a single use).  It was easy to wash and I hung it to dry to keep it in best condition.

I think the price is fantastic for a really lovely jacket.  It’s certainly feels more special than many other brands at a similar price (or more).  You can also try my coupon code Rachel10 for 10% your order as well to save a little money on this jacket.

They also have 3 new versions of it coming out for spring 2025 so if you didn’t like the Sand color…maybe one of these are more your speed.  I am getting the Indigo Lithograph one and I’m SO excited.  I highly recommend the Track Jacket (in whatever color you enjoy most) for this spring.  I’ll be wearing mine A LOT!
