I typically wait for a while before I review something.  I want to make sure it’s going to hold up.  I want to make sure it looks as good in 6 months as it does brand new.  I want to get a good feel for the performance…but these pads are making a big call to me to get out the review…right now!  I don’t want anyone to miss out.

There’s currently a pre-order sale on both of these styles.  Midnight Peony (the black and gold one) is here.  The Pink Posy is here.

First off, I should mention (as most things these days) I discovered this brand on Instagram.  I have a tendency to love anything with flowers…and after the shop announced two particular floral pre-orders many months ago, I had to order.  I didn’t have super high hopes.  I’ve gotten many pads from other smaller brands and the quality has always been somewhat less than you’d expect after buying ES, PSOS, etc.   Poor sewing…less than beautiful fabric…less than perfect fit and functionality.   I talked myself into just the two pads instead of the tops (though I still want to try those, but the photos didn’t look like they were maybe quite as high quality…and now I’m questioning that decision).

I expected decent pads, don’t get me wrong…and for the presale price of $60…really…they’re not expensive and it was worth the risk.  If they were at least as good as my Dotbel, I’d be happy.

Well…call me shocked and amazed when a few months later these pads actually showed up.  I was initially a little disappointed as the binding color had been changed to black (okay…practically…that makes more sense…I’m not mad about it now that I’ve thought about it), but that’s the only negative thing I have to say.

First…the fabric and the colors are beautiful, luscious and elegant.  I love both the print and the fabric used.  Secondly…the mesh backing…great.  I love that. The sewing was very solid and I’m not worried about things unraveling like I am with some brands.  I like the rubber badge…as I’m not worried about scratching it or messing it in the wash.   I never knew I wanted pads with billet guards…but why don’t all these satin fabric pads have these patches?  Duh!  It’s going to make the pad last a LOT longer and keep it from getting all stained up.  Please all saddle pad brands…do this.  The thickness is on par with the nicer pads out there…AND there’s a nice build up of extra foam in the front like some of the Le Mieux and PSOS.  For the price…I’m not sure how she’s doing it.

But the biggest shock of all…seriously my favorite part…these pads actually fit Jax.  There’s a very well done wither cut back and it fits super under the saddle and fits the contours of his back better than any other brand I’ve tried.  Exceptional pad design…really…I’m really impressed.

This brand is overlooked right now in the market IMO.  The quality of sewing and construction is top notch.  The thoughtful design features and cut are excellent.  The fabrics used are great and beautiful.  These pads are quality.  On par with my favorites…maybe actually better.

You can’t custom a better fit than this.

So far I’ve washed one and it came out just as good as it came in, so no complaints on that either (in the washing machine, cold water, hang to dry).

I will absolutely buy more pads from Rebel Equestrian (and check out their other products as well)!  So excited about this brand!
