This is I think the second nail product I’ve reviewed on this page in…8 years…so it’s not a common thing!  I happen to not do my nails that often because…1.  I’m terrible at it.  2.  I ruin them in 2 seconds.  3.  I rarely find the spare time (and I certainly don’t have time to go to the salon).  However when Sporty Nails reached out to me to review their horse sport themed nail wraps, I couldn’t say no.  I mean…how can you turn away something as cute as these?!

First before I get into it, there’s a coupon for you good through 8/8/22!  20% off if you use the code HORSES.

So first of all…and most important…these are cute!  The only sadness I have about the designs is that some of the ones I wanted to use, didn’t fit my nails…so I didn’t get to use the horse shoes or the little horse head.  If I was more skilled at this I could have probably put them on a smaller nail and trimmed…but I’m not.  So for cuteness…they’re great.  The jumper set is very clean and classic with a very light pinky color (really almost white on the nail).  The rodeo set is my favorite thought because the colors are beautiful and the southwest pattern is gorgeous.  Looking forward to wearing those on my trip to Colorado in a few weeks.

Anyways…so if you’ve never used nail wraps, there’s a trick to them.  It’s also probably not going to go perfectly well if it’s 1. your first time using them.  2.  You haven’t used them in a while and are out of practice.  3.  You’re sick or otherwise distracted.  However that’s not really much different than painting your nails.  In fact…while it make take me a half hour or so to use these nail strips…there’s only one nail polish brand I can use because…while painting nails is fairly fast…waiting for them to dry is not…and well…guaranteed I will F them up within the first half hour of painting.  Yes even with some of those quick drying sprays…etc.  And even IF I manage to get them dry without ruining them…I will have chips by the end of the day.  So yeah…I’ve used nail wraps in the past with good results so I prefer them over most manicure options.

What I Used for Application

I’m not going into the application…as she provides a video AND there are videos all over the internet on application tips.  You don’t need a lot and they’re pretty easy to put on (and quick if you’re in practice and not getting interrupted or distracted. An alcohol pad is included. You do want clean nails or it won’t stick well.  You also need a nail file and top coat.  I personally also like having a heat pad (like this handy one made for nail wraps I was given by a friend years ago – they help warm up the adhesive) and a cuticle stick (which I actually use on the tips to help make sure the file of the tip of the strip is even and clean).  They’re also easy to travel with because you need minimal equipment and nothing is bulky or heavy or likely to spill (except the top coat).

This particular brand is a little thicker than any of the other nail wraps I’ve tried which…I thought might be difficult when i first applied one, but I actually liked better.  Because they were thicker/tougher…it was easier to manipulate them to smooth them down without damaging them or chipping them.  They were a little harder to file through, but not bad. It does make shaping around the outside for smooth fit a little harder, but honestly I’m not good at that anyways and my nails will never be perfect.  They come off with normal nail polish remover.

Longevity wise, I’d like to try more than one set as sometimes things can be an outlier.  I can’t honestly tell you at the moment how long they’re going to last under my normal hard wearing lifestyle…because I’m sick…so no barn for me until at least later this week.  So far so good.  I’ll update the review then if they make it through the week (they’re supposed to last 1-2 weeks but I’ve never had 2 weeks happen with almost anything).  However I wanted to get the review out to you ASAP since the coupon code is only good through next Monday!

Anyways…they are a yes from me based on application and cuteness and I’m excited to see a nail company making something for we horse girls!  The price is good (if you’re really talented with these you can use one nail wrap set for more than one manicure…but that’s not me).  Cheaper than a trip to the salon by far…and lets be honest…that bottle of nail polish you bought probably only got used a couple of times…so yeah.  Lol.  The price is on par with other at home nail stuff (especially if you use the coupon!).  Don’t forget your coupon for Sporty Nails good through 8/8.  20% off if you use the code HORSES.
