I ended up with a pair of the Free Ride Lux Breeches incidentally.  A barn friend of mine was like…”Hey…I ordered these and they’re a little too big for me.  Do you want to try them and buy them before I send them back?”  I said sure…but was SUPER dubious when she handed me this tiny, super lightweight little bag.  When I pulled them out I said “NO WAY.  These are way too thin.  They’re going to show every lump and bump on my butt and legs.”  She told me to try them on and I’d be surprised.

The material of these is super soft and super lightweight.  Their thinness and lack of structure is evident in these photos.  These are exactly the kind of thing that teenagers or 20 somethings wear…not 37 year olds.  I tried them on…Surprise is an understatement.  I was shocked.  I’m still not sure the physics of these…but lord…wow.

I now have 4 pair.  HA!  These are summer weight breeches…but I honestly wore them almost all winter in California.  They’re not going to be comfortable in weather under say 50 degrees for sure…but they held their own all winter in cooler weather and nothing beats them in hot weather.  The mesh lower leg is also super!

I love that they have a zip and snap because I have a very curvy bottom and tights don’t work too well for me.  If they are stretchy enough to go over my hips, the waistband will generally not keep them up on my waist.  This fabric is freaking magical.  I don’t understand how they can be so thin and so lightweight…and yet not emphasize cellulite.  Seriously.  I have a lot of it and have since I was 12…genetics are a bitch.  I also LOVE the thigh pocket.  It’s the most successful variation of this type of design I’ve tried.  They’re also cute.  With flattering lines, a non obtrusive sticky seat pattern, attractive colors and faux back pockets with contrast trim on some of them, they’re very stylish.

They are supportive and comfortable for riding too.  My favorite pairs.  It makes everything so close contact I can feel my aids and Jax’s back better and there’s no restriction in the saddle.  Breeches are a balance, too tight and you are restricted.  Not tight enough and you get all sorts of rubs and saddle sores.  These strike the perfect balance of literally being a second skin with no restriction.  I feel almost naked in them…but they are not offensively thin and unattractive like you think they would be.  They are magic.

I honestly wish there were some white ones in the zipper and snap style and without the big logo on the leg so I could show in them.  Honestly…I’d buy any number of colors of these and really desire more colors to be released! More colors in the breech style please, pretty pretty please (or just white so I can dye them)!

They are easy care as well.  I throw them in with the rest of my horse laundry and hang them to dry and they’re holding up super well.  The price is right as well at under $100 and often you can get them on sale.  I do think the sewing quality is a bit lower than the breeches I’m used to buying and I have had to send a pair back for a zipper issue right out of the gate, but for the price I think the quality is good and the material magic and comfort makes up for any flaw in sewing for me.

These are my favorite riding pants right now.  I’d ride only in these if there were white ones without the big logo for showing.  I’d wear these around the house, for workouts, yoga and pilates if there were a non sticky seat version.  I’m really quite impressed with these breeches and I’m crossing my fingers for more colors in the zip/snap style!
