KONG Canine Subscription Box Review

The KONG box Subscription service has a VERY user friendly website, and I felt confident selecting exactly what Holley needed. (Holley is a 3 year old high energy Australian Shepherd who is an avid chewer and trained to spend time in her crate when we are away.) The website walk you through selections such as your pets name, their weight, birthday, age, and what their individual needs are. I was really impressed that each selection had a further description to really make it clear what you were selecting. They offer four size ranges for your box, and three age ranges to ensure the items they send are accurate and usable for your pup!

In our first box I was impressed to see they send a classic KONG toy as a welcome gift for your subscription! I have used these for years as a training and positive reinforcement tool and the classic KONG is a must have for any age and breed! We selected the “colossal” size (60 + weight) and the “boredom” option as Holley is 72 pounds, kenneled and a heavy chewer. (They customize your box depending on different needs and/or behavior concerns such as chewing, boredom, anxiety and more.) The items we received for her were perfect!

The KONG shipment came in a very aesthetically pleasing box, with adorable tissue and confetti packaging! You literally felt like it was YOUR birthday opening the box! We received the KONG Stuff a Ball, KONG tennis balls, KONG Bites Treats, KONG Marathon Treat, the Stuff N Sweet Potato for the Stuff a Ball or Classic KONG, and training tips and recipes from KONG professionals.

KONG Stuff a Ball was the favorite in the package, and it kept Holley busy for HOURS. You can place your pups normal treats or the KONG bites treats in the inner section and use the Stuff N Sweet Potato from KONG in the outer ridges to extend the interest in the Stuff a Ball! It can be a bit messy when using the Stuff N Sweet Potato so ensure your pup is in a space that is cleanable. (We would place the ball in a ceramic dog bowl in her kennel, or give it to her in our mudroom where the mess could be contained.) The KONG Stuff a Ball is DURABLE, we have utilized this enrichment item for her several days a week for almost 6 months and it does not show ANY signs of wear or destruction!

The Stuff N Sweet Potato is in a easy to use toothpaste tube like dispenser with a cap for storage. I am VERY glad I am a big label reader, or I would have missed the note that states the Stuff tube must be stored in the refrigerator after opening. I do feel like there needs to be a bigger or easier to find label when it comes to that instruction, if i had not caught it, I would have just placed it in the cabinet with the other treats!

The KONG bites treats are not only tasty but fun! I giggled when I saw that they were in the shape of a classic KONG, and ALL of my dogs loved the taste! The KONG marathon treat was also REALLY impressive and an amazing idea I have never seen before! It was a round half sphere hard treat that you pop into the end of a Classic KONG toy, and then spin it down to release the edible prong like end to hold it in place. I thought the treat would last Holley a pretty good span of time but our super chewer proved me wrong. It took her 22 minutes to chew the spherical end of the treat off of the KONG and the edible prong was left inside the Classic KONG for her to attempt to get out. That part took her an additional 18 minutes. As always please make sure the KONG marathon is given with your supervision as it is a hard edible treat!

The amount of product and their retail value individually far exceeds the price of the monthly subscription box! There are plans starting at $29.95 to $39.95 depending on your subscription selection/commitment. (You get a significant saving if you purchase and commit to the 12 month subscription.) You can select the every month option or every other month depending on your needs.

The KONG box is an amazing time and money saving treat for you and any pup in your life!
