The number ONE piece of equipment in EVERY canine owners home is a leash. Slip leashes, traditional leashes, nylon, leather, braided, retractable, rope.. none of those compare to our latest product review for Coastal Hound!
Don’t let the name fool you these leashes are not just for the beach..
Here in Ohio we put this leash to the test in all kinds of weather! The cuff is easily adjustable whether you are bare armed or have a bulky coat on. You can use the cuff as a traditional loop leash end, but I prefer to be hands free when running and working around our ranch! I was especially impressed this summer in 90 degree heat the cuff was not uncomfortable while running or jogging with it on my upper arm or my wrist me. The material is extremely padded, waterproof, soft and fits snugly to keep your furry friend safe! There is also a loop on the cuff that I used for keys and bags to pick up you know what! (I found this VERY convenient)
The leash itself is strong and thin. I wasn’t sure about this at first and it took a few uses to get used to how light the leash material was! (The company states although it is strong if you have a leash chewer because of the material it may not be ideal). They have two options for length, 4 and 6 foot, with 4 foot labeled as a walking leash and 6 foot is their jogging leash. We preferred the 4 foot leash, as our dogs are trained to stay at a heel and with the 6 foot there was too much leash to work with. I did LOVE the 6 foot for tying up to the trailer or gates when we needed to contain Holley on outings and while working on the farm. They have six color choices to show your unique style and the whole leash is “waterproof” and I never had to worry about stains or stink!
One of my favorite features of this leash is the “tangle free” design. There are well made “swivel” attachments at each end, and none of our dogs (or humans) ever had any tangled leash situations!
We were a little hesitant of the clip end of the leash, it doesn’t look or feel super heavy duty. As we used it we had ZERO issues, but the clip is also detachable using a secure Velcro system on the clip end, so my thought was we could always throw a heavy duty clip on that end if we needed to!
Overall I was really impressed with the quality of materials used for the cuff on this leash, and the Velcro closure design is impressive on both ends!
