So Spicy needed to switch to polo wraps from boots for a while…and as a bit of a fashionista (or at least my horse is) I had to find some cute polo wraps that would work with my saddle pads and flatter my handsome horse! I ordered a couple sets of polo wraps from Hopkins Show Prep and she threw in a third set and two stirrup holders to do the review (one of those pairs of stirrup holders will be included in an upcoming giveaway…keep an eye out!).
Because these aren’t off the rack polo wraps, there’s some customization involved! Want a special kind of ribbon? She has options! Color? Options! Print? Options! Sparkle? Options! Hopkins Show Prep has a ton of options to choose from and I guarantee she has some polo wraps for anyone (except maybe those of you that only use white, black and navy…and if that is you…branch out a bit)! It’s all good fun. For style…these polos can’t be beat. I’ve gotten numerous compliments on all three pairs with the grey/flower ribbon being the most popular (and my personal favorite as well).
On inspection these polo wraps are killer. They’re cut VERY straight and have nice stretch (and wrap really well). They are wider than your average polo wrap and a bit shorter…which actually works for Spice and his shorter cannon bones. They offer better fit for him than off the rack name brand ones I have (which are all too long). They have been sewn nicely and obviously made with care. I have no complaints on quality!
As you can see in this photo…they grey one is from Hopkins Show Prep. The pink one is from a name brand I will not reveal so as to not shame them! Look how poorly the name brand polo wrap is cut! Many children could do better…now that I say that…and knowing where the name brand company probably gets its products from…a child might have cut them…ANYWAYS!
So the quality is top notch. How about the durability? So far I’ve use these polo wraps for over a month now. Each set has been used 4 times (and counting) and washed 4 times. So far, everything is holding together really well. No stitching issues, no pilling, and no stains. The Velcro is better on two of these than the 3rd (the grey arrow pair with the thin orange Velcro is less secure than the other two…but it’s still quite secure). That’s my only nit pick about them so they get a little ding on durability as I’m not sure this set will last as long as the other two. The other two sets are so firm they’re hard to un-stick! Which is fabulous.
And for price…$26-$30 for a set of four (depending on the design). The price is spot on for what you are getting. You can get some garbage polo wraps from a name brand for less sure…but they’re garbage. You can also spend a lot more and not get anything much extra except maybe a fancy name brand and some bling…
I love Hopkins Show Prep polos and I’ll be ordering from her again!
Bonus review! The stirrup holder is so simple…but great! I had little bag holders on my stirrups before, but I like this design so much better! Easier to put on and less to keep up with. They keep your stirrups from mucking up your saddle. These are made with scraps from the polo wrap fabric, so not only are you getting a practical product…your saving waste!
