I love subscription boxes. The anticipation…the excitement…the un-boxing! It’s all good to me. When I was given the opportunity to receive a box from the new subscription company SaddleBox, I couldn’t have been more excited. This subscription box costs $37.95 a month (there’s currently a coupon of 10% off for life on your membership running currently…so don’t forget to use that). This particular box happens to also donate a portion of their proceeds to horse rescue organizations, which I fully support!
What was in this particular box?
May 2017 SaddleBox – value ~ $45.50 + shipping
The Little Red Book of Horse Wisdom – $12.99
Epona Golden Glow Hoofpick – $9
Neigh! Natural Horse Shampoo Bar 4 oz – $8.50
Decker Face Brush – $5
ClintRMints Cookies (6 cookies) -$5
Chamberlain’s Leather Milk No. 8 Sample – $4.99
Red Bandana
I was impressed as soon as I pulled back that brown paper. The box was full of goodies that also happened to be perfectly color coordinated (which just adds that extra bit of pizazz). The hoofpick from Epona is so pretty and I’m excited to see if it’s as good of a hoofpick as it is a pretty one! I was also happy to receive the book because I’m a big reader…so this is right up my alley. It is full of quotes from various horsemen and people of note and I cannot wait to get through the whole thing.
I’m so excited about the Neigh! shampoo bar (what a cool product!) and the Chamberlain’s Leather Milk sample. If you’ve been following Decidedly Equestrian for any amount of time, you’ll know that I’ve done more reviews of leather cleaning/conditioning products than anything else. I’m always looking for a product that does it easier and better and I’m excited to try this one. The shampoo bar will be getting some use in the coming months and I’m intrigued to see how well it works and how long it lasts. It has a lovely herbal smell and is a solid bar of cold process soap…so it’s hitting two of my favorite things…horses and soap making.
Spice devoured the ClintRMint cookies. I didn’t think to take a nibble of one myself this time like I usually do, but they looked and smelled quite tasty and got the horse stamp of approval.
I was slightly less enthusiastic about the face brush since I have about 4 of them already…but it’s a decent quality brush and I’m sure I’ll find a use for it!
They topped off the box with a cute red bandana. I’m not sure I’ll be wearing this around the barn, but it makes a great rag for wiping the dust off my boots at a show (and it’s cute!).
All in all, I was pretty impressed with this new subscription box. It came attractively packaged with a variety of different types of products. The product value was greater than the cost of the box and there are some very interesting products I’d never heard of before (which is what I’m always looking for with one of these boxes). I cannot wait to try out the shampoo bar and leather milk! I’m interested to see how their boxes develop over time since this was their first box.
