Everyone knows that California Chrome is in Dubai for the Dubai World cup this weekend. What many don’t know is that we have several others horses based in the United States that have traveled to Dubai for the Dubai Racing Carnival.
In the $10,000,000 Dubai World Cup we have Horse of the Year California Chrome, Grade 1 winning Lea and Grade II winning Candy Boy (though now racing for the UAE). Multiple US Grade 1 winner Ron the Greek…now raced for a Turkish owner was withdrawn with an injury. If California Chrome pulls off the win, he will be the leading money earner based in the US topping Curlin in 2008.
Main Sequence is our great hope for the Sheema Classic and will try and prove that his poor showing in races outside of the US meant he just needed to mature.
The Golden Shaheen is coming up strong with multiple Breeders Cup race winning Secret Circle, the horse-on-a-hot-streak in Salutos Amigos, and Grade 1 winning Big Macher.
My Johnny Be Good is the one US three year old being pointed to the UAE Derby and a spot in the Kentucky Derby.
Mshawish (the recent winner of the Gulfstream Park Handicap) is the only entry in the Turf.
For the Godolphin Mile we have Grade 3 winning Bradester and the hard knocking 7-year-old Prayer For Relief.
Grade 3 winning Distinctiv Passion and stakes winning Green Mask are aiming for the Al Quoz Sprint.
We have an exciting weekend of racing coming up. If you have any free time Saturday, I suggest you tune in.
You can watch the Dubai World Cup and cheer on the US contingent on Saturday March 28th, 1 PM Eastern on Fox Sports 1.
