You are a horse person. You wear a helmet and gloves daily…but you don’t wash them every day. They stink! You regularly drive your car or truck to and from the barn. You carry all sorts of smells with you as you get in and out of that vehicle. You may not notice it since you’re bathed in barn smells, but you stink!
DIY Helmet Deodorizing Spray (you can also use this in your car, on your gloves, your jackets, whatever!)
- Glass or Metal Spray Bottle (the essential oils will go bad in clear glass or plastic much faster)
- High proof vodka. Vodka helps disperse the essential oils AND kills bacteria on fabrics!
- 15+ drops of any of the suggested essential oils* (depending on your spray bottle size).
- Funnel
*We recommend Tea Tree (kills bacteria, fungus, yeast and other nasties), Lavender, Lemon (and other citrus), Rosemary or Peppermint. Any of these will do a good job of deodorizing (or any mixture of these).
Pour vodka in spray bottle with your funnel, but don’t over fill (you can pour some in your glass too while you’re at it). Add your essential oil drops until you reach the right scent mix and concentration. Don’t put in TOO much essential oils or you risk skin sensitivity. No more than 2% total volume should work perfectly. Put the lid on, shake to mix, and spray! Easiest DIY project ever!
Shake before each use and spray on your stinky stuff! Helmets, gloves, car fabric upholstery, jackets, etc.! Store in a cool, dry place. Keep it in your tack trunk, tack room, car, office, wherever!
