In California, we’re wrapping up our rainy season…but for most of the country…spring rains are coming soon!  A must-have product for spring?  Leather Therapy’s Water Repellant spray.  I have been using this product for a couple of winters now on my Dublin River boots.  I apply this product after cleaning them to re-waterproof the leather to keep them going for as many years as I can.

It is formulated to be used on smooth leather, suede and nubuck!  There’s not a lot of products you can safely use on those last two types of leather…so this is perfect for those “country” boots that are so popular with both eventers and people that “barn” in muddy, ankle deep water conditions.

It doesn’t discolor leather and quickly absorbs in so there’s not a lot of waiting around for it to work.  It doesn’t cause build up or attract dirt and grime which is a big bonus over some other water-proofers that I’ve tried that are heavy on the wax…  I’ve had great luck using this product and I have extended the life of my heavily worn winter boots to the point that I’m not sure I’ll need a new pair for at least another 2 years or so.

I’ve tried it on my normal leather paddock boots with great success as well (though it doesn’t stick to the smooth leather as easily as it does the nubuck and it takes a bit more work).   Like most products from this line, it’s a bit pricey for how much you get…but it certainly does it’s job!

I really like this product from Leather Therapy and it’s a regular staple in my leather care rotation.  You can buy this product online here.
