Barn hands…everybody’s got them except those lucky few that have a groom that does everything. Grooming, scrubbing water buckets, cleaning tack, itchy hay, baths and even riding all do a big number on hands. My hands are a disaster: dry and flaking nails (chipping and tearing too…), rough calluses, hangnails, and generally dry and wrinkly. My hands show much more age than my face…
Enter Ridden Ragged Replenishing Cream from The Simple Equine. This little tub of smooth, thick cream has been a lifesaver. It is very moisturizing and rich, but soaks in quick so it doesn’t rub off on everything you’re doing. I try to remember to use it a couple of times a day and it has really improved the softness and moisture level in my skin. While the tub is small (4 oz), a little bit goes a long way and I’ve barely put a dent in the jar after using it for a little over a month.
The scent is to die for – a bit lavender, a bit citrus (from the lavender and lemongrass essential oils). On top of the essential oils it contains rice bran oil, avocado oil, glycerine, jojoba oil, and shea butter for ultimate moisturizing abilities. It has chickweed and aloe vera to sooth irritated skin, and includes powerhouse Vitamin E (which is both moisturizing and antioxidant properties that helps to smooth rough skin and circumvent wrinkles and sun damage).
This unassuming little jar of hand cream packs some powerful ingredients to get great results and it’s a big favorite of mine.
