I am in love with my Asmar Equestrian Soft Shell Jacket. However I just found out that this jacket may not be available anymore. It is currently on sale with limited sizes and colors left (update – it is no longer available). Here’s my review of this fantastic light show coat.
The Soft Shell Jacket features two way stretch, a Dintex™ membrane to keep water and wind off, is breathable, and machine washable.
This jacket is attractive and fits well. It is flattering, but also very comfortable. The material is a little towards the athletic wear spectrum and can feel a bit crispy (like a wind breaker), however in certain weather that is a huge bonus and I like the fabric. I love the orange tag as well for a little pop.
I have to admit, that this jacket has been worn as a fashion item most of the time because I love it so much (and the color goes with everything). I’ve only used it at a couple of shows. It works with anything from slacks to jeans and flats to boots. It’s light weight and is perfect for fall, spring or summer time on the coast in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has gone out to dinner, to business meetings and to the backside of the racetrack. It fits in everywhere.
As a show coat, it is not quite as formal as it could be, but that’s okay. However when it’s 90 degrees or more outside, it is a blessing. It is not even remotely as hot as a typical show coat and can be worn without killing its rider when it’s incredibly hot. It is also great when it is raining and will keep the water off you fairly well. It has a lot of stretch and allows for quite a bit of freedom of motion of the arms and shoulder. It does not restrict while riding.
The Asmar Equestrian Soft Shell Jacket is a high quality item with good construction and nice material. It is worth it’s price (and definitely worth its sale price…in fact buy two!). My only complaint is buttons could be a little bit more interesting. Update: My second complaint is that the jacket doesn’t exist anymore. I’d like to have this in several colors.
